Background

Fire details & Investigation

The Maui wildfires ignited on August 8th in the town of Lahaina in West Maui and the Kula District located in the central part of the island. The Lahaina Fire burned 2,170 acres and damaged or destroyed 2,207 structures in the historic town. At least 97 people were killed and hospitals were overwhelmed with burn and smoke inhalation victims. In the Kula area of Maui, 19 homes have been destroyed across the 202-acre fire.

The cause of the fires is still under investigation, but early evidence points to power lines downed by high winds. Hawai'i was under a red flag warning for fire risk due to wind speeds as high as 60 miles per hour combined with warm temperatures and dry conditions. The island's four main utility companies are being accused of not preparing for the coming weather and for not properly maintaining their equipment, which was reportedly outdated and not up to safety standards.

Singleton Schreiber's experienced Hawai'i wildfire attorneys have already filed two lawsuits against the utility companies and can help you get the compensation you deserve to recover from this disaster.

Our great clients

We were very pleased with the professionalism and integrity of the Singleton law firm and with the outcome of our case. We have recommended them to friends who lost their homes and possessions in the Camp Fire.

Galvan

Thorough and responsive to my inquiries... friendly, helpful...extremely professional. I would recommend this law firm to anyone in need of assistance in seeking fair compensation for property losses, especially from woodland fires.

Angus

They worked hard for me. They straightened out my problems with FEMA and got me the money I deserved from PG&E for them causing the fire.
